Open radioactive substances are widely used in nuclear medicine, in nuclear technology and also in many fields of research. In those applications radiation protection requires precise measurement of surface contaminations with radio nuclides. Of special interest is the measurement of large floor areas. Since a couple of years this is also of increased importance in the decommissioning of nuclear facilities.
Therefore, BERTHOLD has developed a floor monitor based on a completely new generation of extremely large area proportional counters with 2000 cm² active surface.
The floor monitor is available in 2 versions:
- the LB165 system for beta-gamma measurement with sealed Xenon-detector
- the LB166 system for alpha-beta measurement with P-10 flow- through detector
The flow-through version has an integrated gas supply with a 3 litre gas cylinder, a pressure reducer and a gas flow meter in the wheel chart.
The height of the detector position can be adjusted within 18 mm in order to obtain optimal match also on non planar ground.
The minimum ground distance is 6 mm.
For the calculation and display of measuring results the easy to operate battery powered universal monitor LB1230 with display, data storage and printer output is used.
The display unit is easy to read mounted on a column.
