Application The LB150 Particulate Monitor products family can handle the entire range of room and stack air monitoring. The LB150R is intended for monitoring soleley alpha-activity, while the LB150D-R is for simultaneous alpha and beta monitoring. Typical locations include:
- nuclear fuel cycle facilities
- radioactive waste processing and storing sites
- hot cells
- nuclear decommissioning
- any site requiring monitoring of alpha- or beta-emitting particulates
Measuring Principles The LB150 Particulate Monitors are fixed filter, on-line monitors. They are sampling the airborne radioactivity, and measureme and analyze the activity concentrations.
Sampling: The high air flow rate, 40m³/h (28 cfm), allows representative sampling of room air or isokinetic sampling of air from a stack.
Dust Collection and Choice of Detector: The air is drawn through a 200 mm (8") diameter, S-class glass fiber filter, which is viewed by a thin-window, large-area, proportional counter located directly above the filter. For the LB150R Particulate Monitor, two stacked counter tubes are used; for the LB150DR, a triple counter tube stack is used.
The air-tight dust collection unit may be made of either stainless steel or teflon-coated stainless steel.
