MiniBis

The MiniBIS and the MiniBIS Pro are gel documentation systems for all samples stained with fluorescence or colorimetric (visible) dyes. Especially designed for the research laboratory, the MiniBIS instruments allow researchers to store, analyze, and annotate acquired images on their PCs using the acquisition and analysis software.

Two different models are available, the MiniBIS and the MiniBIS Pro. The MiniBIS is compatible with all available transilluminators by using the innovative Switch Box and protective cover. The MiniBIS Pro is equipped with an unique D-Transilluminator with interchangeable drawers for UV and white light.

Applications

Wide range of biological samples which are stained with fluorescent or colorimetric (visible) dyes:

  • Detection and quantitation of nucleic acid stains and labels, including Ethidium Bromide, GelStar™, SYBR™ Gold, Fluorescein, Texas Red™ and more
  • TLC plates, spot and slot blots, autoradiographs, microplates, macroarrays, membranes and more

  • Camera

MiniBIS uses a high sensitive CMOS camera and high-quality optics that include a super bright lens for producing sharp, clear images with minimal geometric and light distortion. With the standard lens of 25mm the field of view is 15x12cm, with the 17mm lens 17x21cm. Before saving an image, users can view, zoom, and focus - all in real time. Direct transfer of images from camera to PC maintains the original resolution and dynamic range.

    Fast, simple workflow

Easy to set up with a user-friendly interface, MiniBIS provides quick, accurate image acquisition and results, ensuring efficiency and productivity in the laboratory. Fully controlled by the PC, MiniBIS USB 2.0 interface connects easily to any laptop or PC.

    Illumination

Equipped with the unique D-Transilluminator, the MiniBIS Pro permits quick exchange between UV and white light drawers. Automatic Drawer Detection technology indentifies the type of drawer in use and adjusts the software settings accordingly. Designed for safety, the UV illumination activates only when the drawer and the door are safely closed.

    Software

The MiniBIS instruments are delivered standardly with two software packages, GelCapture for imaging acquisition and GelQuant for image analysis. GelCapture offers complete, automatic control of configuring, capturing, and saving sample images for analysis. GelCapture offers all important image settings adjustable as illumination, focus, brightness, binning and many more.
GelQuant enables researchers to detect and analyze lanes and bands - even on distorted gel images. The GelQuant software automatically calculates molecular weights of the bands according to the standard marker lane. A wide range of analysis tools are available as rotating and adjusting the image, background reducing and saving into different image formats (BMP, PNG, TIFF, JPG and DIB).
