The DuoSeries measuring system consists of a scintillation detector – CrystalSENS point detector or UniSENS rod detector – and a sophisticated transmitter unit for display and operation. The transmitter is a state-of-the-art control unit with robust 3.5” TFT touch panel, powerful Dual Core CPU and diverse operator interfaces. Advanced self diagnostics and monitoring features ensure the safe function of the system. Furthermore the data logging functionality allows operators to analyse their processes in depth, e.g. develop trends, track process changes, etc.
DuoSeries LB 470 is now also available with radiation interference discrimination (RID). The level measurement system with RID consists of a Co-60 source, a LB 4700 detector with PVT scintillator, and a separate LB 470 RID transmitter for display, calculation, and operation. The detector mounted at the measuring point is connected to the LB 470 RID transmitter via a two-wire cable. If sources like Cs-137 or Ir-192 are being used for NDT at or near your plant, and you have a critical measurement that requires continual monitoring, the LB 470 RID is the right choice for you.
Gas property fluctuations in large vessels can greatly impact the amount of gamma at the detector, and therefore impact the measured value, if Berthold's gas property compensation is not added. With GPC, a second detector monitors how much the gas properties are effecting gamma transmission. Based on this, the level detector compensates for changes in gas properties, providing a reliable level measurement.
Berthold has published the whitepaper “Radiation Interference Discrimination (RID) – Managing Interference Radiation in Radiometric Level Measurements”, wherein the common sources of interference radiation are identified and effects on the nucleonic measurements are explained. The paper elaborates on how Berthold, with its highly sophisticated radiation interference detection (RID) feature, helps plant operators maintain a reliable and repeatable measurement.
