With this function, weld tests no longer cause sudden fluctuations in the measured value. When weld tests are detected, the measured value is frozen until the external radiation event ends. A digital output can signal the detection of interfering radiation. All of our explosion proof rated detectors are equipped with XIP.
DuoSeries LB 470 is now also available with radiation interference discrimination (RID). The level measurement system with RID consists of a Co-60 source, an LB 4700 detector with PVT scintillator, and a separate LB 470 RID transmitter for display, calculation, and operation. The detector mounted at the measuring point is connected to the LB 470 RID transmitter via a two-wire cable. If Cs-137 or St-90 sources are being used for NDT at or near your plant, and you have a critical measurement that requires continual monitoring, the LB 470 RID is the right choice for you. This RID systsem discriminates between NDT gamma and that of its Co-60 source, and continues to provide a live and accurate measurement during NDT events.
The SENSseries LB 480 detectors are certified for use in SIL2 applications. Even SIL3 is achieved with homogenous redundancy. The certificate covers all measurement applications, from high level or low level alarms to continuous level measurement and density measurement. Thus safe operation of critical processes is guaranteed.
Especially in low radiation conditions, our highly sensitive detectors improve the signal to noise ratio, resulting in superior performance when compared to competing system. Replacing your existing detector with a more sensitive Berthold detector will delay source replacement, which is costly, time consuming what is resulting in superior measurement performance compared to competing systems. Source replacement is costly, time consuming, and does not work towards a reduction in overall site source activity.
Multiphase level measurements are used wherever several phases are formed, and a density profile is required to monitor a separation process. Due to a lack of clear separation between phases and extreme process conditions, radiometric measuring systems are particularly well suited for this application. Changes in emulsion height, slight differences in phase densities, buildup on the vessel walls, very large vessels, or large measuring ranges often cause problems for other technologies, but can be reliably measured with the EmulsionSENS measuring system. Many processes can be better monitored and thus optimized with the multiphase level measuring system, including, and and various other separators or storage tanks.

Due to less frequent production downtimes, simpler and thus more economical spare parts inventory, increased long-term and temperature stability and consistent process quality, the higher acquisition costs are mitigated within a short period of time.
