In cement production, the heart of the process is the rotary kiln and the subsequent cooling system. The efficient operation of these two systems together is critical in maintaining quality, efficiency, and profitability in the manufacturing process. With operating temperatures in excess of 1000°C, the measurement of important parameters, such as the level of clinker on the cooling grates, is fraught with problems. Traditional, intrusive level measurement technologies simply cannot last in such a harsh environment.
To optimize cost savings, the airflow must be regulated to the proper amount for the mass of the clinker present on the cooler grates. This requires an accurate clinker level measurement. Berthold's noncontact nonintrusive radiometric level measurement technology provides a means of making an accurate and reliable clinker level measurement while operating outside this extreme high temperature environment. The high degree of accuracy, stability, and repeatability insures high production rates, optimal efficiencies, and superior product quality.
Glass melt furnaces offer one of the most challenging environments for any type of industrial process measurement and control. Extreme process conditions, including extreme temperatures and dense refractory material, require an extremely robust yet reliable and accurate level measurement. High quality glass production requires a reliable and safe glass level measurement just after the glass leaves the main feeder channel.
Radiometric based level measurement systems with the use of a Co-60 source, proper alignment, and an effective calibration procedure offer best in glass measurement results for the glass industry to maximize safety, reliability, and throughput.
Concrete as a high-tech building material requries an optimal mixture of sand, aggregates, water, and cement. The ratio of water to cement defines the final quality and stability/firmness of the concrete. In addition, the fluctuating moisture of sand must be taken into account, which makes a significant contribution to the overall water content. An online moisture measurement directly on water and the aggregate, such as gravel, can be used to regulate the water content in the concrete mixture, and thus ensure a constant high quality concrete. For conveyor belts, the microwave moisture measurement system LB 568 has proven to deliver reliable and highly accurate results. To monitor the product moisture in silos the neutron moisture measurement system LB 350 is the ideal.
Especially in low radiation conditions, our highly sensitive detectors improve the signal to noise ratio, resulting in superior performance when compared to competing system. Replacing your existing detector with a more sensitive Berthold detector will delay source replacement, which is costly, time consuming what is resulting in superior measurement performance compared to competing systems. Source replacement is costly, time consuming, and does not work towards a reduction in overall site source activity.
