Our products reliably provide key process information in the production of polyethylene and polypropylene, in urea and PTA plants, cellulose or rubber production, and coal gasification. Our customers are some of the world’s biggest and best in their fields – BASF, Bayer, Dow, DuPont, Eastman, Exxon Mobil, INEOS, SABIC, and Shell, just to name just a few.
As a technology partner, Berthold readily supports customers with expertise and creativity for the development of innovative processes, even if custom-made solutions are required. Our goal is to optimize your process.
With this function, weld tests no longer cause sudden fluctuations in the measured value. When weld tests are detected, the measured value is frozen until the external radiation event ends. A digital output signals the detection of interfering radiation.
All of our detector models with explosion proof certificates are equipped with XIP.
Does your product naturally emit radiation? No problem!
Product Radiation Compensation (PRC) independently measures gamma from the product and removes its effect upon the measurement, for a reliable accurate level measurement.
Gas property fluctuations in large vessels can greatly impact the amount of gamma at the detector, and therefore impact the measured value, if Berthold's gas property compensation is not added. With GPC, a second detector monitors how much the gas properties are effecting gamma transmission. Based on this, the level detector compensates for changes in gas properties, providing a reliable level measurement.
The SENSseries LB 480 detectors are available with a SIL2 certificate. SIL3 is achieved by adding an identical redundant SIL2 detector on the same source for homogenous redundancy. The certificate covers all measurement applications, from high level or low level alarms, to continuous level and density measurements. Thus the safe measurement of critical processes is guaranteed.
A stable and reliable measurement over many years is an important quality criterion when choosing a radiometric density measurement system. Accordingly, much effort has gone into the development and optimization of Berthold detector stability. We are proud to say that Berthold detectors offer the best long-term stability. A patented automatic drift compensation method compensates for temperature and aging effects, ensuring high sensitivity and consistent measurement accuracy over the life of the system, and years of operation without recalibration.
Especially in low radiation conditions, our highly sensitive detectors improve the signal to noise ratio, what is resulting in superior measurement performance compared to competing systems. Source replacement is costly, time consuming, and does not work towards a reduction in overall site source activity.
Berthold has published the whitepaper “Rod source / point detector arrangement”, wherein the advantages and benefits of a rod source/point detector arrangement are explained. Due to less frequent production downtimes, simpler and thus more economical spare parts inventory, increased long-term and temperature stability and consistent process quality, the higher acquisition costs are mitigated within a short period of time.
