Kinase assays in Time-Resolved Fluorescence format have been proven to be a very robust and reliable technology used for Kinase work. A biotinylated substrate for Serine, Threonine or Tyrosine Kinases is phosphorylated by the respective Kinase enabling the binding of a specific antibody. The Europium label of the antibody can be excited, resulting in energy transfer to a streptavidin-acceptor conjugate. This enables the measurement of the acceptor-specific emission.

Kinases can also be determined using assays based on luminescence. In this case, the activity of the kinase releases luciferin which acts as the substrate for the subsequent light-generating Luciferase reaction.
