Berthold employees are deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the massive earthquake that struck north-western Syria and southern Turkey in early February. The aftermath of the earthquake - the destruction of homes, health facilities and infrastructure - threatens the health and lives of millions of people in the affected regions.
Our hearts go out to all those affected by this terrible disaster. To support the victims of the earthquake, the employees of Berthold, in cooperation with the organisation "Médecins Sans Frontières" (Doctors without Borders), started the internal fundraising campaign "Berthold helps", in which a total of €3,390 was donated by the company's employees.
Due to the great response, the company not only doubled the amount as previously announced but rounded it up to a full €7,000.
The money will be used to support the work of Médecins Sans Frontières, which has been on the ground providing aid since the beginning. More than 500 Médecins Sans Frontières staff are currently on the ground, providing medical staff, emergency and surgical kits, medical supplies, and blankets to 38 hospitals and health facilities in the affected region. In addition, several mobile clinics have been set up in reception centres. People made homeless are being provided with blankets, hygiene kits, tents, electric stoves, and food.
