Our gauges for contactless level measurement work non-contacting and non-intrusive. The continuous measurement of level uses a gamma radiation field that is emitted from a shielded source. There are two possibilities how this field is formed: The first possibility is to use a point source in combination with a rod detector. As an alternative option, a rod source can be used. As the radiation passes through the vessel, the liquid inside (e.g. oil or water) absorbs a proportion of it. At the opposite side of the vessel, the attenuation is measured by a highly sensitive detector. Since the measuring geometry and the type of radiation are constant, the attenuation will only be affected by a change in level. This method allows for a highly accurate level monitoring – irrespective of factors like temperature, viscosity, pressure or color. Our gauges for contactless level measurement are maintenance free and universally applicable on all kinds of vessels, without any modification of the plant.
The TowerSENS detector is an efficient solution for the monitoring of very long measuring ranges. With its robust scintillation rod and its stainless steel housing, the TowerSENS detector can work in the most demanding of process conditions. The system is drastically more economical than gauges that use several short cascading detectors. What's more, the wiring efforts as well as the risk of a complete system failure are significantly reduced. Our unique detector stabilization method ensures an outstanding detector performance over many years. In addition, our patented method compensates for aging effects as well as for temperature influences.
The SuperSENS detector is without any doubt the most sensitive radiometric detector the market has to offer. Where other detectors demand unacceptably high source activities or fail to work at all, the SuperSENS system delivers highly accurate results. It uses a very big scintillation crystal with 150 mm in diameter. Depending on the environment the detector is used in, the SuperSENS system can be installed subsequently in order to prolong the source life by many years – in some cases up to 10 years or even more.
